Happy Book Birthday to The Affiliate (And a GIVEAWAY!)

Hey all,

Looking for an amazing new fantasy read? I've been waiting for this one all year long! The YA debut of USA Today bestselling author K. A. Linde, called THE AFFILIATE.

First, isn't the cover gorgeous?

Sarah Hansen of OKAY CREATIONS really outdid herself with this one!

And check out what other authors are saying about the book itself!

"The Affiliate is a lush world of myth, prophecy, and politics, filled with sexy kings and princes, a scheming court, and a thousand years of mystery. I couldn't put it down!" --Bethany Hagen, author of Landry Park
“With rich romance and twisty political intrigue, THE AFFILIATE is a breakneck fantasy ride that's perfect for fans of THE SELECTION or THRONE OF GLASS.” –Susan Dennard, author of Something Strange and Deadly
"The Affiliate is...so unique. I’ve simply not read anything like it." --Donna from Book Passion for Life

And finally -- here's what it's about!!

On the day of her Presenting, in front of the entire Byern Court, seventeen-year-old Cyrene Strohm's lifelong plans come to fruition when she's chosen for one of the most prestigious positions in her homeland—an Affiliate to the Queen.

Or so she thinks.
When Cyrene receives a mysterious letter and an unreadable book, she finds nothing is as it seems. Thrust into a world of dangerous political intrigue and deadly magic, Cyrene's position only grows more treacherous when she finds herself drawn to the one man she can never have...

King Edric himself.
Cyrene must decide if love is truly worth the price of freedom. Find out in this first book in USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s new Ascension series.

You know you want to read this, right? Well, K. A. Linde was nice enough to give me a signed paperback copy to give away to a lucky blog reader!! Just leave a comment in the comments section and you'll be entered to win. The question to answer:

* What is it about the fantasy genre that keeps you coming back for more?

Anything, literary anything can happen in a fantasy book. Nothing is to crazy, nothing is impossible but at the same time authors decide what is possible in a book with practically no limits. I love exploring such books and especially the worlds, there will always be something different in it that hasn't been seen in another book!

It is that anything can happen. The story can keep you guessing clear up until the end. I have enough of everyday life on my own, fantasy is a nice release.

The worlds and dynamic characters. There is always so much dynamics to them. They are seemingly impossible but completely acceptable because in fantasy the characters and creatures are one and the same. They are magical and also similar. They're so wonderful that you wish they were real, that they were your friends and family.

I keep coming back to fantasy because I can escape. I love the lands, people and situations presented in the genre.

Why I love fantasy so much is because it turns the "what if"s into "when"s. I don't know of any other genre that just goes and takes charge in the same way fantasy does. It isn't encumbered by the aspects of how likely something is to happen. It just goes for it.

Fantasy keeps me coming back because it is a magical genre that shows me how writers are true artists. It takes true artistic skills to create a world that doesn't exist out of nothing and make the world seem so real you can touch it. I also love how limitless the fantasy genre really is. A fantasy book is as limitless as the authors imagination and there is something truly magical about that. I also like the fact that there are usually kickass heroines at the forefront of said fantasy novels and I cannot get enough of badass heroines who take a fantasy world by storm. That is why I cannot wait to read The Affiliate!

The chance to visit an entirely different world from ours is the main reason I come back to fantasy. Fantasy have various possibilities and surprises like there could be talking lion as main character or a very gruesome looking but kind hearted Dragon, it has a magical element to it.

Reading is a change to escape into another world. I love the creativity. Fantasy is only limited by your imagination. This is why I love fantasy best. That and dragons...always dragons :)
